993 Strut Brace
Discussion
I have been thinking about fitting a strut brace to my own 993 C2 Coupe (1995)I dont have a particular product in mind, but I have an opinion about the look of some of them. I would like to get some info. from anyone that has fitted one, that works!
I asked my local Porsche "specialist" about the pro`s and con`s and he stated that the integral rigidity of the shell in the 993, was much better than in the 964 and the earlier series cars. And that, I would notice little (if any)improvement even under hard road driving and cornering.
I have not tracked the 993 yet, but even my old 1987(standard) 3.2 Carrera SSE Coupe felt so taught in comparison. In corners that car felt like a go-kart in comparison to the 993, was this all down to the extra width in track of the Turbo bodyshell and suspension set up?
If any of you guys have fitted a strut brace, or made any other mods to a 993 that give you that more "connected" feel, I would really appreciate your experiences.
Many thanks in advance!

David,,the previous owner fitted one to my 911 CS,playing around with removing this both on and off track I could not tell the difference.
I have one on the 993RS (standard) so Porsche obviously think they do something, but I would imagine it is a marginal addition to the different suspension fitted on these cars.
Personally I would wait until you get proficient on the track and then add one,it is fun improving a car on track from what you have known before.I do not think you would notice any benefit on the daily commute at all.
There may be a slight improvement if you get the 993 squeaky screen syndrome, but off the track it is just jewellery.

Sorry David, me again !!
I first did a strut brace shortly after purchase of my Carrera S, optional 18s. Felt a difference in turn in, definitely! Then went PSS9 with M030 bars with a GT2 brace (this bought on aesthetics I'm afraid to say). I would say its a small investment that adds a little directness - nothing earth-shattering ...... but worth the dosh, definitely!
Cheers, Maurice
Well many thanks guys. I am assuming then, that these things add a little something (somewhere) so has anyone fitted an after market one yet?
The real Porsche Tequipment one is part no.964 343 042 00. Has anyone fitted one of these? If we really are talking jewellery, what about the sexier "designer labels" such as Gemballa or TechArt?
