I was just going to post that myself. It's a really positive article for both cars. They both sound superb.
I think the XFR is considered, perhaps unfairly, the newer car and will be grabbing most of the headlines but having read how sublime the XKR sounds, I'll have to revise my thoughts again. I was resigned to saving a few bob and going for the XFR with all it's extra practicality etc. but having read that article I think I might have to reconsider!
Now convertible or hardtop is another quandry. I love convertibles (I have two at the moment!) but the looks of the coupe do it for me and I could just go ahead and keep my Elise.

It's starting to dawn on me what an incredible car the new XKR is. It's got as much power (and similar weight) as the £170k Aston DBS, for less than half the price! If early reports are anything to go by it's every bit as good round corners too, if not better.
But the XFR offers much of the same plus lots more room in the back for the price of the new Lotus Evora! Tests suggest the XKR sounds amazing but the XFR is a lot quieter, possibly too much so but that's just an exhaust thing so fairly easily remedied.
Fantastic work Jag.

That sounds like a quite deliberate policy.Fantastic work Jag.
The market for the new XKR is probably demanding a more sporting package and is demanding more noise.
The market for the XFR is demanding a luxury saloon with super car crushing performance. Most of these buyers probably don't want to hear it.

I think we are going to have to wait in an american mag to strap some instruments to this thing and see what happens. I did read a comment from a jag power train engineer saying that the engine is actually "dialed back" as gearbox longevity is an issue. with the xfr doing 225 mph with "minor" ecu and pulley upgrades, it would seem we will have some 600hp monsters running around soon.
