Mine old Audi cab has a buckled wheel, bobs up and down on the balance machine not twisted.
Can this be repaired as finding a replacement is proving impossible.
Hope you dont mind me asking here, as there is usually more informed knowledge here than other forums I visit wink

Depends on how bad the buckle is, try Pristine in Milton Keynes.

This has got me a bit confused now.

I need a couple of slightly buckled wheels repairing so thought I'd try these guys if people have had them repaired there before, but looking at their website I read this:

Pristine said:
In an article taken from The Golf car magazine, David James, our MD said "We can't create a brand-new wheel from a grotty old one and on safety grounds, we won't repair buckled wheels - where the rim is distorted relative to the centre section. But the majority of bumps and scrapes can be repaired perfectly, as good as new".
So do they repair buckled wheels or not? If they do, why is the MD saying that they don't?

I think It depends on how bad the buckle is. I had mine checked by a wheel refurb guy and he said it was 50/50 if he could do anything with it for a £40 charge. My mechanic mate looked at it when the tyre was off and said its scrap !
I ended up buying a decent used wheel for £100 of fleabay.

Hi there,

I've found a couple of places to refurb wheels.

I was recomended BJV engineering in Fluanden by a guy who sells refurbed wheels for a living. however I found these guys called fawheels in hampstead who will lend me a set of wheels while they work on my ones.

BJV say they will take 5 full dyas to refurb the wheels however FA Wheels can turn it rond in 2 days... im wondeinrg has any one heard of or used either of these guys and what key steps should be taken when refubing wheels?

I had the wheels on my previous Porsche (996 C2) refurbed by BJV at Flaunden. They did a very good job at a very competitive price, but that was just under 5 years ago.

Don't know where you're based but when I bought the Turbo 12 months ago dealer, as part of the deal, got the wheels refurbed by Alloy Art based in Southend. Was very happy with the results!

I had a badly buckled 2-piece BBS wheel (BIG pothole which blew the tyre instantly) straightened by BJV a couple of years ago. Perfect job for £25 and it balanced up no problem.

I've also used them to refurb at least 4 sets of wheels and have no complaints.
