Parts and Service Manual for Esprit S4/S4s/V8
Discussion
Hi Calvin,
Don't let the thought of V8 servicing put you off. I do the bulk of all my own servicing and do not find the V8 difficult to work on for any normal maintenance. Also note that in the US, LCU covers cambelt servicing for 8 years and a complimentary belt change at 36K miles. The valve train uses hydraulic tappets so valve adjustment is automatic. All fluid and filter replacements are simple.

I am researching the S4s/V8 at this time. I ordered the CD with all manuals, parts list, and schematics for the 93.5-to the later model V8's (the 7 vol edition). I should have it soon. It will be interesting reading and after that I can make an informed choice on which way to go. I will mentally dismatle and reassemble the car before I start the buying process. I did this several years ago before I bought the SE and it seemed to work out well. Hearing other V8 owners who have worked on their own cars is comforting.. I just know most of the quirks of the 4 cyl cars, but then again that might be the reason I contemplate the V8. The working on the 4 cyl is like an old video game that one has played a lot and grown used.

I have aquired the CD from a individual and not a shop. It was my impression that it was the only one available and it was an impulse buy on my part. My main purpose was to study the schedules, proceedures, types of tools, and gauge how difficult or different the V8 would be from the 4cyl cars.
I figured that if I decided not to buy a later model car I could always sell the CD to a deserving person as it seems more people are working on the V8's.
For some reason people are always are asking me about buying, selling or in the last case giving away manuals to a deserving person.
Have you ever seen a CD version of the manuals? I'll give you an email about how the CD manuals are to use. I never have had manuals in CD form before and am quite curious about it. Probably would be a pain when used next to the car with a laptop and would have to have pages or sections printed out to be used in the garage.

I have the manual for my 1992 Talon and my late 1996 Eclipse on CD and it only cost me $30. It is in PDF format and is better than the paper version by far. It has EVERYTHING you could possibly want and when you need to find all references, it is a search button away. I have a shop latop I keep in my garage to help work but I also print out a paper copy of the pages I need when I am going to do a job. Absolutely worth whatever you might have to pay for it.
