As you lot may know or not know, I am in the process of a front end resto on the S. I have a problem finding some bits that I need. Basically, the radiator on my S2 has a GRP cover with a metal rail top and bottom. Each rail has 2 pegs that are used to keep the radiator in place by fitting into 4 rubber grommets (top 2 are held in place by two brackets and the bottom 2 fit into angled plates on the chassis. The grommets that I have are a bit buggered so I need some new ones. Where on earth can I find some more. I've tried RS, Farnell and a search on the internet but am really struggling to find something suitable. I was hoping that somebody on here who has done a resto on their S may have been in the same boat.

Same problem a few years back. Couldnt find anything that size. Ended up 'improvising' some gromets of rubber tube. 2 sizes that fit inside each other' and bit of contact glue.

I remember the shop looked a bit surprised when I asked for 10cm of this one and 5cm of that one.

Maybe a bigger Electrical wholesalers might be more useful.

Try CEF (City Electrical Factors), or Newey and Eyres.
They are both national.

Thanks bridgdav, this looks promising. Have had a quick scan and it looks like they might have a suitable size. I will get some better measurements off the old ones later and let you know.

Cheers!!!!!!!

Surely Roy you can just order samples through you company..(designer etc)

Watch out for the sales guy wanting to follow up on the sample request, and just POP IN and see you whilst he is passing. It took me 2 hours to get rid of Southco even though we use them all the time.

I seem to remember seeing a mixed bag of gromits in the Demon Tweaks catalogue, which would be expensive for what they are, but convenient. Several of the motor parts suppliers round here stock them, if you can't find an exact match buy a bigger one and cut it to length. Alternatively, various places (e.g. VWP) sell 'gromit strip' which is basically a 'U' section designed to be cut to length and folded into a circle to form a gromit.

Try these people www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/VWPweb2000/sleeving/sleeving.html they sell grommets singularly - all sizes by the looks of it. I bough some 25mm blank grommets off them last year to fit into the bolt access holes of my new petrol tank cradle to stop the water getting in.

The dimensions that matter are the:

Panel hole diameter needs to be approx 14.4mm
The panel thickness is approx 3.5mm
The peg that goes through the grommet is approx 10mm diameter

Reevite part no PV909A would do the job lovely I reckon but they said they dont keep them in stock so I presume unless I order millions of the things they wont want to make any for me.

Thanks for you help.
