Hi Guys,

My boyfriend and I have booked a long weekend in Dublin (well, the flights anyway). Neither of us have been before so we are looking for a really nice hotel or B&B near to everything of interest and quite cheap. I've looked on expedia but I'm not really sure where the best area would be so its hard to decide.

Any recommendations would be great,

thanks

We stayed here a few years ago & it was a very nice Hotel & great value.
A bit of a walk down the riverside but not too far & years later I still haven't had a better hot chocolate than the ones we got from the Breakfast smile

I still rate the Clarence, great vibe in the Octagon bar in evenings

Not that cheap but the Westbury is lovely!

Right on Grafton Street, fantastic Cocktail lounge

The breakfast is pretty handy too

+1 for The Clarence.
Stayed a few times and it does have a very special feel.
As said previously, the Octagon Bar has a good atmosphere to it.
However, it's pretty expensive now, considering the £/E rate.
Also, it can be noisy. To the front is the main road and the rear has all sorts of service vehicles running up and down in the early AM.
Dublin is expensive. End of. If you want to be in walking range of the sights and sounds, you'll have to pay or it.
Stay up past St Stephens Green and you will save a few quid. still only a 15 minute walk to the river etc.

The Park Hotel (was Chief O Neils) is in the centre of Smithfield - 10 minutes walk from Grafton St and almost on the Liffey (near to Temple Bar also and cheap considering the rest).
The Morgan is good (Temple Bar) and the best would be the Beacon (South Dublin).
Best place I stayed was the Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire - Laurel and Hardy stayed there (once).

135 Euro's room rate seems a great deal
