Retro Sat Nav S40

I have just inherited an S40 company car and I have a Road Angel sat nav system.
This has worked fine in lots of other cars but can't pick up a signal inside the S40.
The Sat Nav manufacturer said that if the windscreen is a UV/heat resisting screen this can also stop the satelite signals. So when I took it in for service I asked them and they claim that it does not have a UV/heat resistant screen and so I don't know what the problem is.
Does anyone know if what the garage said is correct or has anyone had a similar problem?
