Guess they are scared of the legal implications of anything said..

It a shame really but it really is a very bad time to be a TVR dealer in this current climate.

It would not be the first time someone has taken desperate measures to keep the business from going under.

I think it’s a poor show that PH has locked that thread – that’s one of the reasons for this forum, so everyone can help each other out and warn others about issues.
As mentioned on the last post, it’s somewhat ironic that they’re a PH advertiser, immediately it’s said the thread gets locked.
Well not all bad, seems the company haven’t paid their web host either as if you click on their PH ad it goes 502.

Needs to be aired I reckon.

Wouldn't want any others falling into this.

That was my thinking. As of yesterday that site still was advertising cars. Some of which 'could' have belonged to people on here.

I can understand PH looking after their paying clients, but it would be nice if they could also help out the forum's members, without which, they'd have no clients. Who'd advertise on a site with no members/lurkers ?

For that thread to be closed, have the mods have called the dealer & confirmed that Gaz is bullstting ?

If not, they're protecting their paying customer, who appears to have sold Gaz's car & ploughed his money in to their failing bank account.

If it's the latter, I'd want no association with this web site.

RussellM - you have a very good point and I share your concerns, however, the thread has not been deleted, its still there for all to see.

Im not condoning what they may or may not have done in anyway, but when a business is struggling and a thread like that could be the final point leading to there closure due to people being put off, i would have thought its in everyone interests for the mods to lock the thread until their side was heard?

I imagine it had potential to turn into a thread that ended up Naming and Shaming a company still in business so that's why it was locked. N&S is a contencious issue and the reasons for the policy are outlined in a post by Petrol Ted in the 'Website feedback' area.
As has been pointed out the thread is still there so it's easy to PM the OP to ask for details.

If nothing else, to me it was an enlightening thread about something I'd never thought could happen.

As a result of it, a posted link and a subsequent phone call to confirm position, there's a ferrari being collected today from another dealer.

Of course... I was just thinking about the OP; but if there’s no legal recourse and the car industry is down 31% in January + are in serious trouble, if I had a car at a dealership Sale or Return I’d be down there faster than a fast thing picking it up.

I can understand why the naming and shaming rules exist when it comes to slander but in a case like this where someone has genuienly been ripped off by an apparently established dealer I personnaly think it would beneficial to all members of the forum if they knew who the culprits were. After all PH exists (hopefully) for the benefit of the forum members and their interests should be put before a companies. If a company is screwing someone over like this then they damn well deserve to go out of business!

Edited to add: I have no idea who the dealer is but would like to know.

Chaps,

Sorry, but I requested closure of the thread. The law on libel/defamation is changing fast online, and the advice was that whilst the name of the company had been removed, it would be safer for us to close the discussion.

It isn't what we like to do and we've left it up rather than delete it simply because there was some good advice in there about what to do in this sort of situation.

Unfortunately it can get expensive very quickly, and we'd just rather not spend our time defending libel cases!

Best,

Stuart
