I’m getting a rather expensive sounding knocking/clunking noise when applying full lock either way on my CS. The noise is actually as I turn the steering wheel just as full lock is reached making me think it’s maybe the rack. It’s particularly pronounced during parallel parking. When the car is moving forward under full lock there is no noise - just when applying lock. Any ideas?

Do you get any vibration coming back through the steering wheel, either when driving straight, or turning?

I'd be inclined to get under the car and give everything a good wiggle. It could be the rack. But then it could be something on the suspension that doesn't like the turning forces. One of those things that's tricky to diagnose over the internet.

Mine used to do exactly the same until I simply replaced the hydraulic fluid.

Sounds like PAS belt is slipping, check it looks ok. I sourced a new one that was ribbed (oo er) old one certainly wasn't. Could be it just needs replacing.
