So my 350Z has finally gone off to the body shop to get the messy front end fixed following the impact from an older (very nice) lady in her CRV.

I have a 'like for like' courtesy car clause in my insurance (it's insured for business and pleasure) and also get to have an accident management company manage the hire car, taking it to the body shop etc. My insurer has recently switched to K******** accident management, and I hope to God they soon switch elsewhere.

Lat week they tried to leave a BMW 520d (a minging 4 door 2l diesel cloth seated barge)with bald tyres and a stained to f*ck interior with me, whilst they drove my 2 week old 350Z to the body shop (in the snow) because they didn't have a truck with which to pick it up. Driver had nither ID nor drivers licence. So that didn't happen.

So yesterday they brought another car (08 Merc SLK280) on a truck, but having accepted it (with lots of dents, scratches) I notice the tax runs out...tomorrow. And to cap it all, the Merc is pure sh!t to drive, an utterly hateful thing in extremis. Interior is horribly plasticy - and squeaks everywhere, the auto box is SLOW even in Sports mode, and it handles like a boat. I also look like a complete gayer - which doesn't bother me but has hit a bit of a note with my friends.

Good news is I should have my 350 back late next week. I certainly won't be hooning this weekend, and if you see a balding chubby bloke driving an untaxed black Merc SLK driving around these parts, please give him a wave of sympathy!

Good weekend all....

If it's a 'like for like' policy then get on the phone and complain, after all its going to be the person that caused the damage to your car insurers thats going to get the bill

Remember you'll be the one that gets prosecuted for driving a car with no tax

I can imagine how you feel. I have a Vaux Insignia for the weekend. Just going to sit and watch Rugby and try to forget about it.

yes Any non-legal aspect to a hire car be it tax, tyres, exhaust is down to the driver and not the hire company. I'd be on the phone sharpish if I were you to absolutely bk them.

Zippee - are you sre that's the case fella? The accident management company assure me that's not the case. If it is, I shall be going absolutely medieval.

TBH, I'd like to drive one of those - it certainly can't be as bad as this Merc! What happened to your Z then?

I'm with you on the Rugby thing...still on a high after watching son#2 (who had never ever picked up a rugby ball in his life until hitting high school last September star in the first 15's 33-5 trouncing of local rival earlier!

As far as I can be Bud! I'd double check before taking my word for it but I'm fairly sure it is the case..

The weekend gets worse. An awful display by England.

The car is having a front end respray to get rid of the stone chips, plus a few other tweaks. I cant fault the car really, its great for motorways and has a great spec. For what it does its fine but a little big and underpowered for our roads.
