the front of my xbox is glowing red?? wtf??

i literally just turned on my xbox 360, ive had this console since launch with no problems, anyway i turn the console on and its fine for 10 mines, then all of a sudden it drops live connection, so i turn off the console then i switch the console back on to get a broken type screen with only bits being displayed, i turn back on the console to get three red lights at the front of the machine with the top right light not showing, the other three just flash red???? wtf is going on?? has anyone else had this?

fking brilliant. so i need to buy a new one? ive hardly used this one as it is, ive never moved the thing, always keep it dust free!! guess my z4m just got a new wheel choc. so this is now, its gone? no way of fixing it?

Generally you just send it off and a couple of weeks later they send you a refurbished one back.

jesus so this is a popular thing, i suppose ive had it for 6 years, so i guess the question is shall i get another or go with the ps3?? is the ps3 goning to last alittle longer?

Try trading your broken one in for a new one at Game or Gamestation if you want a quick turnaround. The newer 360s are more reliable.

PS3's generally seem to be more reliable. The Xbox is poorly cooled, which leads to the failures.

Such a common fault that Microsoft extended the warranty to 3years for this specific failure, if its over this they may still honour it )

Worth a go and when you get the replacement it will be fitted with the newer board and fan, hence more reliable alternatively there is another thread about great deals on the 360 Elite.

Ive said it once, Ill say it a million times, brand new arcade console £100 from WH smith, simply take the HDD and place it in the new console.

Or as an alternative, get a nice shiny elite console for £149.14 by following the instructions here

Beedub, why would you buy a PS3 when you have loads of games for the 360? I assume you have loads of games after 6 years?)
Just buy an arcade and make your life simple......
