Alfa 156 veloce/tourismo on v5

Hi everyone, we are in the process of buying an alfa 156 jtd which appears to be a veloce. We have just done an hpi check and it has come up as a tourismo. Is this normal for alfa to register it incorrectly? Is it something to worry about, is it likely to be a tourismo?

Tbh we have looked at a few now and we have also previously seen another car that claimed to be a veloce and said tourismo on the v5. We walked away from that one, but is a second one just coincidence?

Help and thoughts asap pls as we may go and buy tomorrow...

Yes this can happen from new, I ordered a JTS Veloce in 2003 when it arrived from the dealers the V5 said Turismo. However that particular car was downspecced for some reason, it was missing the headlamp washers, and the electric rear windows. I rejected the car and was given a proper Veloce in place of it, from memory that didn't say Veloce on the V5 either.

If the spec is correct for a Veloce don't worry about it, if it isn't then it's got to be your decision. You should get... from memory here.. 16" wheels, Red on black dials, headlamp washers, four electric windows, side skirts, lowered suspension, Bose on the mid face lift cars, carbon dash on an early cars.

I was told that in truth Alfa built all Veloce's from Turismo's rather than than Lusso's, I'm not sure why though.

Thanks for the reply mitch. We went for the car and bought it yesterday, HPI came up clear, it was only this tourismo thingy on the V5 that had us worried, but like I said I have seen another before that had also said that for some reason. The car has everything you mentioned plus more. It has facelifted dash but old shape outside. 52 plate.
Overall so far very very happy with it. Lets hope it stays that way and can dispel a few of the old alfa rumours that anyone we know has mentioned when we said we wanted one!!!
