So I keep hearing "that will give you arthritis" "its bad for you"

How bad is it to crack your joints? I frequently crack knuckles, neck, and wrists..

My back and sternum crack about 10 times a day, unintentionally
Although I broke my sternum about 4 years ago so that's how that started

Fingers, neck and back.. Sometimes I cannot get my back to stretch out until it cracks... Don't know if it's good or bad, but it feels nice at the time.

Same here with regards to the sternum. Mine regularly makes a horrid deep thud.

As do both shoulders, and hips.
Jaw, fingers, toes, knuckles, ankles, knees, elbows, neck and back.

I'm proud to have been the only person I know to have made someone physically sick after my 'orchestra of joint cracking' party piece smile

Nope - not I.

I may have the odd crack here and there when stretching, but I won't crack / snap my knuckles. Nah.

I dont need to force them!

My back clicks - thats the best one actually, it sends my eyes funny for a couple of seconds.

My feet click when I walk without shoes on.

My neck clicks at least once a day - that usually happens when I'm rubbing my head though.

Guess I'm heading for some quality arthritis in later life! - idea Do they give you pot on the NHS for that now?

Oh - and I used to do that STUPID 'wicked - hand / finger slapping' thing when I was at school. boxedin

All my previous doctors and my osteopath have said that "clicking" your joints is in no way bad for them, but more likely just indicative of loose joints.

I have quite a long list of clicking joints:

all 30 knuckle joints
all of my toes
both wrists
sometimes elbows
most of my vertebrae (i think the most clicks from my back at one time has been about 10)
my knees more than any other joint (nearly every time i flex them)
both ankles

infact this thread has made me want to have a good crack so i have just stood up and counted how many i can do in one go. my total was a very poor 34.

Cracking knuckles is a revolting habit - if you must, don't do it in earshot of me.
