Hello from Australia. I've been lurking on this forum for a few months now and it's confession time... For my 21st birthday in 1970, my father bought me a Tudor Oyster Prince Sub. I proceeded to wear this surfing, trail riding, working on cars and day-to-day use for the next 15 or so years, with the occasional servicing by local watchmakers. Eventually I tired of needing to have it serviced, it was pretty well knocked about, the band had been replaced with a rubber strap and the watch unsurprisingly didn't keep very good time. It then languished in a drawer until when about 5 years ago, I came across a newspaper advertisement for a group wanting to buy quality watches, such as Breitling, Omega, Rolex, Tudor etc. I guess you can see where this is going, and yes, I sold my Sub for enough money to buy a new Citizen ProMaster Chrono. Now, 5 years later and a little wiser re watches, thanks to forums like this one, I realise the mistake I made back then and, like a parent who has given their child up for adoption, I wonder what would have become of my Sub?
Regards
Rob

It'll still be around somewhere, but if there was a major component damaged (deep case scratches, peeling dial etc) it could have been cannibalised for spares.

Old worn dial faces aren't the end in most cases though, even with old yellowed tritium they are in demand as a true vintage dial
