hi all

my slk makes a funny cracking sound from the n/s/r wheel area when i reverse the car up the drive into my garage.
it only makes this sound if it has not been driven for a few days and if you drive it for a mile or two it goes.
it is a 05 reg with 10 thou on the clock.i cannot see anything wrong and the brakes are not sticking on.
have any owners had this problem i could do with some help on this

many thanks

Sounds like the handbrake has stuck slightly and you are releasing it by moving the car.

We had a similar noise on a CL600 late last year, a creaking/cracking noise when selecting reverse.. ended up being the propshaft, we replaced it under warranty...

i fill get it on a ramp next week and check the prop out.
my mate thinks it could be the n/s/r drive shaft joint making the noise?
