This is a common problem with the C Class. It's due to the fact that the wiper linkage is supposed to be maintenance free when it should really be regularly greased. First things first, make sure the linkage moves freely. Then take off the motor, it's not hard - a 2 spanner Haynes job. You'll find that the motor itself is OK but the white nylon gearwheel on it will be eaten away due to the stiff linkage. Unfortunately, it's not possible to replace just this AFAIK so you will have to buy a complete motor. Secondhand ones go for about £75 on ebay, an aftermarket one is available from euro for about £140 and a genuine one from a dealer for about £230. There are at least 2 different electrical connector types so make sure you get the right one.
