US prosecutors have released video footage of a sheriff's deputy striking a 15-year-old girl and throwing her onto a cell floor.
The video is evidence in the case against Washington state Deputy Paul Schene, accused of using excessive force against the girl in November.
The incident began after the girl was arrested in a car theft inquiry.
Footage shows the deputy lunge at the girl after she kicks one of her shoes towards him at SeaTac City Hall.
"We believe this case is beyond just police misconduct, it's criminal misconduct," King County Prosecutor Daniel Satterberg said.
"This is clearly excessive force."
Mr Schene, 31, pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree assault on Thursday.
The second officer shown in the video was a trainee at the time and is not under investigation.
The Associated Press news agency said that according to court documents, the girl complained of breathing problems after the incident and medics were called to check her.
Mr Schene's lawyers had asked the judge not to release the video, arguing that it would inflame public opinion and prejudice the deputy's right to a fair trial.
Hopefully I havent offended the repost police with this one, I searched and didnt find anything.

from what is shown it looks bad very bad
but i dont know the whole story of what happened before
on the other hand if criminals were all treated like that maybe theyd be less crime
its got to the point where i do think more quick punishments should be handed out
Oh yeah, I'm sure the world would be much better off if we let policemen punch 15 year old girls in the face.but i dont know the whole story of what happened before

Behaviour like that should exclude a person from positions of authority.
If a 6 ft 4 bloke kicks his shoe at the PO's head, yes charge him, slam him into the wall and throw him to the ground.
If a 5ft 5, 15 year old girl lamely kicks her shoes at your feet, give her a verbal b
king and shut the cell door.
Yes its treating one person differently to another, but he completely over reacted. Police should be pragmatic, not pr**ks.

Seems? Well, this seems to be a complete waste of my time. That, my friend, is 900 nicker in any store you're lucky enough to find one in. And you're haggling over 200 pound? What school of finance did you come from Nick? "It's a deal, it's a steal, it's the Sale of the f

That's because he want to plea it for no jail time and not let it go to trial.Once it's in the spotlight the chances of pleaing it out are very much reduced.
A little time inside in the same block as a few Bloods might adjust his thinking on prisoner welfare.
(Bloods = rather nasty gang)
