Hello......newbie here
Discussion
Hello everyone.
Put my deposit down on new car last week and joined up here as well in anticipation of getting it home
....
......which I did yesterday (S mkII).....lovely and comfortable for a two hour-ish drive (better than I was expecting anyway, I was actually quite refreshed when I got out).
Here it is:

I haven't stopped grinning since I signed the deposit
.
Oh yes, and I got it from James Agger.......FANTASTIC bloke and FANTASTIC service.
If you're reading this James, your quite right, I did have lotsa fun on the way home......plus, doing a pretty constant 70-80mph from M1 to M25 and down got me about 28ish mpg which I thought was quite impressive
.
Thanx for all your help and useful info too, it was GREAT doing business with you
.
The noise is great and I just have to get used to the clutch control (biting point and depression) now (this is my first TVR).
It's currently sitting on my drive and I have just put the waterproof cover on for the night.
As I am a bit of a noob to TreVoR's, please bear with me if I ask any pretty stupid noob Q's (which I may inevitably do over the coming Summer).
Cheers.

No - someone just hasnt got any imagination to pick a unique username...theres two of you?

Claire
....FYI my actual nickname (used by work colleagues and friends) is Gaffer. I belong to MANY forums, all of whom have my username as Gaffer or a variation thereof.I'm sorry you seem to be upset by me using my actual nickname as my username but that's hardly a polite response is it Claire?
Thank you KennyGT and Waynester
, I'm just getting used to it over this weekend. I plan on using it for a daily 15-20min commute (not any track days (yet) or hooning it around - just somewhere "nice" to be at the end of a barmy day's at work).I'll see how it goes over the summer and decide what to do for Autumn/Winter (it's admittedly not the best choice to run when snowing/raining for instance

I am too a member of a lot of forums but if my username is taken, I pick something else so as not to cause confusion between myself and the original user of that site - not hard is it..??

TBH it's a typical response from someone who's been on the website a long time..Re: the username issue, the response from Claire is the type of response id expect on cliosport, not here tbh

Thinking they're better than everyone else... Superior if you like.

ETA - Lovely looking car

Thanx for the support guys, but it turns out I had to change my name anyway (was put into sinbin by admin until altered)...
.
@ Claire, OK, you win
, as per mod request I have changed my username to Gafferlicious. This is fine by me as it's also my PSN name (one of those "variations thereof" I mentioned above
). Hopefully it's different enough that you and other users won't find it confusing.
So, G a f f e r (with spaces) has now become Gafferlicious (still me)
.
Right, glad that's sorted, so back on topic......Took it for my first day at work today. BLIMEY
. I swear I spent most of the day worrying in case it got scratched or keyed.
How did you guys feel with your new cars? How did you cope with it's first trip into a staff carpark? Anxious or uncaring? I think I've aged a few years....
Now I'm back home with car safely on driveway, my heart rate has started to settle a bit
.

And its been my nickname online/offline since it was given to me by the originator of this site (and even before this site became live). And since I have been using it on PH since the year dot and most people know me by it - coming on here and just adding spaces will only cause confusion.

Mate, this is not on. You have stolen the 'licious' part of my name. Get back to the sin bin and rethink your POA Gaffer said:

Don't worry about it, it's fine
. Like I said, I do actually use Gafferlicious elsewhere as well, so I don't mind really (I also have others up my sleeve in case of any further issues but I think it's sorted now
).
Re: cars on driveways.....Do any of you also cover your car as I do? Do you think it's a good surrogate to keeping in the garage? Currently, my Garage is a tip. I'm hoping that once I reclaim the space back, I'll be able to park it inside, but until then I'm relying on a "medium" cover which seems to fit snugly (from ebay and advertised as "for tuscan or cerbera"). I tend to wait until the car is cool as I don't want to melt it onto the exhausts
(an hour seems to be fine).
Anyone else use car covers as opposed to sticking in the Garage?
Any tips on how "to get the best" or is there not really much more to it
?
