90's Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Chronograph - what's one worth?
Discussion
Anyone know anything about the JLC Mecaquartz watches from the 90's? Particularly the JLC Master Chronograph.
I revived an old thread of mine here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... year/model Jaeger-LeCoultre is this? but because of the title I haven'thad many replies.
I wonder how much to pay for one?

Rich... Quick bump to bring this back up. I haven't had any replies (to either thread) yet I can't believe I'm the only person on here who likes the older and smaller JLC's?
There were lots of thoughts on fake Roloxs a while back so come on does anyone know anything about these, rather more appealing, JLC quartz chrono's?

I'd guess about £1-1.5k for a private sale? The mecaquartz movements are not in high demand. A mechanical chrono from JLC would command a lot more I think.
I saw one of those mecaquartz chronos for sale on timezone a little while ago, and whilst I can't remember the exact price I remember thinking how relatively cheap it was.

I am convinced i have seen one of these for sale recently...

If you do spot it I'd appreciate you letting me know. For some reason I'm rather taken with them, I like the smaller size and for an everyday watch a quartz would do fine. Apparently it's a very nice movement, it has 222 mechanical parts and 25 jewels. <goes off to look>

Here you go chaps, to finish this thread I recently bought this and I'm rather chuffed with it

Now that is a very attractive watch.

However it reminds me *very* strongly of something more recent, something popular and well known - a watch I've seen pics of posted here many times. And it shows how much of a watch buff I am, because I can't for the hell of me remember what it is
Either that or my memory is going to pot. Anyway, the gold appliqué triangle hour markers, gold 12, gold main hands and blue little hands - I've seen something with exactly the same design language and it wasn't IIRC a JLC.Which means that the 'new' watch has blagged JLC's 'look'

Anyone know what I'm talking about? It may be one of the Omegas...
Anyway, back on topic,
The great thing, IMO, about JLC being that they concentrate on the watchmaking... meaning that they are happy to put an incredible feat of horology into a steel case - a policy that makes JLC the most accessible of the 'top 3' haute horlogerie (I think this forum decided that JLC made it into the top three
) since you don't have to buy an expensive chunk of gold or platinum in order to have an exquisite, perfectly-finished complicated movement.cyberface said:

But the watch it reminds me of.... is that exact watch. Doh. Did you buy it from SWC in Chiswick? The reason why I remember that watch is that I was browsing through their stock of JLCs for a birthday present to myself... and saw that. I love the look of it, though my birthday present is something of very different design... wrist shot in the next couple of days

(actually the SWC 'sold' example has a 'tan ostrich strap' which looks different to yours...)
