MK INDY HAYABUSA V's Lotus Elise (RACE)

Hi ALL.
I've just bought an Indy R hayabusa and a mate has a lotus elise s2 (not an exige) and he has done a few trackdays at brands and he reckons he's going to kick my AR*E when i do my first trackday with it. Does anyone know some lap times of Brands Hatch indy for the above cars.
Lets say for instance if the "stig" (Same driving ability) was to do a hot lap in the MK and then his best lap in the elise. Would they be comparible/which quickest? Someone please tell me the BUSA will smoke the Lotus. If not i better retreat and stop giving him to much verbal.
Any comments appreciated...

Which model S2 is it? Even with the 190bhp Toyota engine the Indy should have significantly better power/weight, since the S2 is fairly heavy.
In a straight drag the Indy should walk it, on a twisty track it will depend a lot on how well each car has been set up, tyre choice and of course driver skill.

About 50% of the accidents I've seen at trackdays have been in the first two sessions . . . probably 40% in the final session

I haven't been caught or passed at a trackday on over 12 months . . . but I don't count the first two sessions of the day when I'm just warming things up and then getting my tyres sorted.

I would guess assuming the MK is set up properly it would, depending on driver being able to get the most from it, be 3+ seconds per lap faster than the Elise round Brands Indy. That is based on me attending lots of Lotus trackdays. If the Mk is properly sorted, then 2-11's and 240 cups should be fair game. Just remember newer Elises have some driving aids, you, alas have just your own talent! Just take it easy and approach the limits slowly and do not be upset if the Elise seems quicker at first. It won't be once you get a feel for the 'busa. You will absolutely DESTROY the Elise on the straights, and the corners too once you re-adjust your senses!

Against a friend's S2 with 220bhp Type R transplant and Nitrons my old MK Indy R1 was absolutely neck and neck on track. Get your car set up and corner weighted before you go as the Indy isn't the last word in cornering dynamics and it will need all the help it can get to hang onto the Elise in the bends.
A decent BEC would smoke an Elise round the bends, no problem.
Just dont try and do it first time out.

In fairness to my post, I was commenting on the old Indy chassis. Mine struggled to turn in as well as my pal's Elise and hence compromised cornering. I still had no trouble keeping up but it was close. The Indy R is meant to be a whole lot better but I've never driven it. I reckon the OP is safe.I sooooooo miss my car, sniff, sniff.
The standard Indy chassis is full of compramises in my limited experience. You never get a perfect setup because you have to do something undesireable in order to do something else desireable, so it was definitely a case of weighing up what was most important when I set up a friend's Indy.
I wonder how much better the R chassis is?
Either way, a car that light with that engine will fly, and once you are comfortable with its limits, you will be one of the faster cars at each track day.

I have owned and tracked a 200bhp S1 elise and a MK Indy fitted with a Honda blackbird engine (@160bhp), around Oulton for instance the Indy was about 3-4 seconds quicker than the elise. Both cars were on the same tyres (R888s) both properly set up.
