Beta Torque Wrench

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I can't find anywhere better.

Has anyone else had problems with beta torque wrenches? I'm having problems adjusting mine. Over the years (it's lightly used) it's got stiffer and stiffer to adjust, to the point where today I thought this is wrong. Tried putting a little WD40 around the points where the handle turns, but it's made little difference. This style is I understand sold under various brands, I've put a link to a photo below.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Aren't these the type where the button on the base turns relative to the handle to lock the wrench at the required setting?
And if so, is it unlocked?

IIRC you have to pull the base out and turn it 90deg before adjusting the wrench as it's a locking mechanism.

Yes, they have the locking bit at the bottom, but I have unlocked it, this is also very stiff btw. I wonder if it can be taken apart?
