hi i hope you can answer a question for me i have put this on some forums and no one has answered
on my 1275 mini engine/gearbox there is what looks like a plug with 2 wires coming out of it it is at the front behind the bell house and under the starter motor the wires are not connected to anywhere i have never saw this on another gearbox and would like to know were they go and what they do thanks david

its a little thing that bolts into the transfer case under the starter, its held in with a 8mm headed bolt and has two wires, which will end in a blue coloured plug (unless its been cut off)
its only used on the injection cars, so if your car is a carbed one and has had a later engine fitted i guess its just been left in situ to stop stones getting into the clutch

This guessing game would be easier if we knew the age of the car
the mini is a 1989 racing green but i dont know the yeay of the engine when i got the mini i did not know anything about the little cars now the vin and engine number are right on the v5 but the engine number starts with 99h but i have now found out its a 1275 guess it was an spi/mpi at some time
i will try and put a photo up when i can but the car is away yo have a new front end and respray
