Good Pub for Sunday Lunch near Sutton Bank?

Evening all

Just wondering if anyone knows of any good pubs close to Sutton Bank for a spot of Sunday lunch in a couple of weekends time?

I'll be coming from Leeds and my parents will be coming from Whitby so wanted something that is close to Sutton Bank (as were hopefully off gliding...) and then want something convenient for a nice lunch.

Any ideas?

It is 2-3 years since I was last there, but the Fauconberg Arms in Coxwold is a nice country pub with decent food. http://www.fauconbergarms.com/sunday_lunch.htm

Coxwold isn't that far from Sutton Bank, and you can visit "Mousey" Thompsons in Kilburn on your way there.

No contest IMO

Black Swan at Oldstead. Always excellent. I go a dozen times a year or more.

Run by a local family who also own a local farm, and all home grown stuff as you would expect.

Theres also the Abbey at Byland for a more restauranty sunday -

East Gilling is a smasher too

The area is spoilt for grub

Yes, but never heard anything good or bad about it. Caters more to the passing trade I believe. Black Swan is repeat business! You need to book on a Sunday unless you go on dot of 11:55 like we do.

The Hare at Scawton is Excellent,Medium rare roast beef and Yorks pudd. Only 5 mins from Sutton bank.
