Where can I source cv8 badges in Melbourne?
Discussion
A good idea to maybe pre-order them in case they are not in stock unless you fancy driving around a few of them. There are not many dealerships in the city centre anymore. South city Holden is now closed. There is one up the northern end of King Street. In fact I think it is a Preston Motors or another one! They should be able to get it for you at worst there and then or overnight as they have large warehouses to the north and south of the city. I know Ferntree Gully Holden and Watson Holden have looked after a few people on here in the past. Make sure you get the right year too. There were various differences between them. A good idea is to bring your VIN number with you, then all the parts come up on their computer for that particular model. Shouldn't matter if it is a UK car as I am pretty sure they are on their computers. I know the 1999/2000/2001 HSV's that made there way over there are on there. Write down what stuff you want too as there were differences in the quantity of badges on the various models too. Some people on here have worked out where to get the airbag badges too. If you drive a VXR prepare to pay lots for the badges!!! HSV stuff is not cheap. If you want a hand, drop me an email or message.

I actually use the Campbellfield outlet of Preston Motors, mainly because they look after me! If you do go there it is heavily disguised as a Mitsubishi/Suzuki dealership! They don't sell Holdens on this site but their northern spares warehouse is on the premises and normally has most things in stock.

In Melbourne next week, was wondering if anyone knows where I can definitely get a complete set of Holden badges for the CV8?
Hi BathCV8
Any chance of duplicating your order for me too? (05 CV8)
My VX badge "fell off" the other day and now I am but a shadow of my former self.....

Help! It was all going really well until the work experience kid at the parts desk counter at Preston Motors couldn't make my VIN number work in his computer. He was sure it was a valid number, but the computer couldn't resolve it to a valid car of any type...
And the conversation then degenerated with his expert colleague into almost an argument about the build being Sept 04 meaning my CV8 (UK) is definitely a VY (OZ) and so relevant parts are .... They were definitely not helpful and not prepared to help me work out what I need. Wouldn't answer questions like are the lion badges for VY and VZ the same, and what is the actual difference between silver and gunmetal (wouldn't have been very hard to point to a car with said item...there was bloody hundreds of them)(one of them thought gunmetal was silver and the other just pointed him to the computer screen to prove him wrong).
Anyway, I've come a long way and I wasn't prepared for the Vauxhall style indifference of these guys.
A favour to ask of you all...
How can I go back and get what I want without having to be a historian on details like differences between VY and VZ? Can I confirm that a CV8 (UK) is a VZ (Oz)? Or if anyone can dig up the magic part numbers for front and rear lion badges, I'd be really greatful.
Thanks in advance from sunny Melbourne

The front grill badges are definitely different sizes for VY/VZ so be careful! For a VZ its a self adhesive 95mm diameter badge with small locating lugs on the reverse of the lions head, for a VY its 112mm (I think) and has four large lugs around the diameter with another lug behind the head, it is not self adhesive. Hope that helps.

Nice one! Thanx. Also found this whilst you were typing that...
UK 05 (small boot and nostrils) CV8 = OZ 'VZ' model Holden Monaro CV8 5.7 litre 354BHP
UK 05 (small boot and nostrils) CV8 = OZ 'VZ' model Holden Monaro CV8 5.7 litre 354BHP
Glad to be of assistance, is it possible you could find out the part number for the VZ grill badge for me?, I think it starts with 921....

Now I'm really embarrassed. On account of not being sure I had the right kit after I bought it (requested VZ, but the parts guy still sounded a bit like a geezer when he handed it over), and not having internet most of the time, neglected to confirm Wolfracer's request ie. didn't want to get two sets of the wrong kit.
The only consolation is that I can 100% categorically confirm the CV8's VZ status and it's correspoding part numbers:
Grill emblem: (GM # 92084145) (about AU$ 28)
Rear emblem: (GM # 92168486) (about AU$ 9)
(Noted Granada's boot badge part number is different - maybe it's a more generic product with multiple variants or maybe these have the guiding pins in different places - dunno)
The wheel centres were going for about AU$ 45 each. The door sills were crazy money. Wheel nut covers were AU$ 4.50 each!
Sorry mate. If you're really desperate, can possibly get someone coming across this Friday to get them. But you have to reply to this ASAP today.

Hi Bathcv8
If you can, then great, but it's not going to kill me if I'm not in the "club" come Shakeys in May (emotional blackmail started....
) Seriously if you can, then yes please and I will sort some more beer tokens on top as it seems you have done a lot of leg work.
Cheers
John

Did you get all the stuff you needed?
No, this shopping trip was £/$ dependant. Taking into account the cost of getting to Oz, $45 per wheel centre just seemed a bit steep and the parts guy just did not understand what I was talking about with the so-called gell centre sticker for the airbag. And when he said if I don't have a HSV there's stuff all chance of him selling me a HSV sticker even if I stuck it to my BMX, just had to walk away - kept having flashbacks to the local VX dealership parts dept.
Short term, would like to pursue the sill centre stickers and airbag solution. Any part numbers and/or sourcing location details appreciated...

Cant believe they're charging that much for the wheel centres! My set of 4 arrived from Aus last week (thru Fleabay) for that much delivered! Dont know how to do the link thingy but the company was called iquay and the description was "Pontiac GTO Commodore SS 17-18 inch Wheel Caps new". Check them out.
