Our house purchase is on the brink of completion, (cash ready, keys to hand over etc) but it's being delayed by shocking lack of communication between the mortgage provider and their surveyor.

The housing developer (keen for their money) says they have a contact within the mortgage company who could maybe speed things up.

But they need my mortgage Roll Number to get the details? What does this number represent, and if I give it to them can it be misused?

How do I get the Roll number? is 'Roll number' another way of saying 'account number'?

Thanks.

Yes, it's your account number (membership number).

Why you couldn't phone up your mortgage provider to find this out is beyond me.

As for giving it to a third party with a supposed insider, well, what do you think the best thing is to do? Tell you what, you give me your full account details and I'll see what I can sort out. Sound trustworthy do I?

Account Number is the Role number yes.

Can it be screwed around with? No It shouldn't be possible. Dpends on the lender, and on the "contact"

Personally I wouldn't want to be giving my detaisl to the developer, but thats a trust thing.

Whats the prob with the surveyor?

They questioned the shared access driveway. Over the space of about 3 weeks the following has happened even though I've been chasing all of them on a daily basis...

1. surveyor says "we need a plan".

2. week later, "that plan was in black and white, we need a colour one".

3. solicitor, under the instruction of the mortgage lender, sends colour copy in post.

4. another week later surveyor says "plan has to come from mortgage lender not soliciotor"

No one picks up the phone anymore, they just 'make a note on the file'.

the saga continues...

Well if and when you pass your details over to the developer, make sure you don't sign anyhting, it could royally screw up your mortgage (if its a direct deal they may not be able to help anyway)

You really need Abbey to tell you which surveyor they instructed, and then get onto the surveyor yourself.
Alternatively if you paid up[ for a homebuyers report the name should be on there.

And I'm a little confused as to why this is the surveyors problem......ususally shared access is a problem for lawyers.
