Many sites offer the facility to embed their content, primarily aimed at myspace and facebook I'd suppose, but is it something PH has considered?
e.g.

<object width="425" height="344">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z0s4WDyWBu0&hl=en&fs=1"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z0s4WDyWBu0&hl=en&fs=1"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true"
width="425"
height="344">
</embed>
</object>

Blimey, that's a bit wide!

It is being considered but is not very high up the priority list at the moment.

What's the difference between embedding and just posting the link? Nothing, except the embedding slows up the page loading, especially if there are a lot on the page which is something I would not like to see.

The same could be said about embedding images.

The chief advantages of embedding videos are that it gives you some clue to the content (rather than just page after page of youtube links) and allows you to watch it without having to leave PH.

It will be considered carefully before we make a decision and the plus and minus points will have to be weighed up.

I'd make it off by default, so only available if logged in AND opted in. Avoids unfortunate workplace incidents.
