A sheet of plastic.......
Discussion
Right - the rest of the internet isn't coming up with any sensible suggestions so I thought i'd try you guys........
I need a sheet of plastic (perspex or similar) preferably frosted as its for a skylight - 5mm thick, cut to 685mm by 545mm - about 17 or 18 quid online which is fine but then I object to then paying 15 quid to post it!!
Any suggestions? am based in central London so ideally somewhere I can go and pick it up?

prob. a silly question, but have you tried ebay? email the seller and ask for a quote. there;s a guy on there who is very cheap and will cut to size, i bought an A2 sheet of opaque last year to make a lightbox and it was under a tenner including delivery.
otherwise i would have thought a model/craft shop maybe? its expensive at B&Q and the like from what i remember.

Polycarbonate is the stuff they use for conservatories. Usually has something like a 25 year guarantee. Twinwall polycarbonate would give better insulation and security. Try these folks, plus others online.I need a sheet of plastic (perspex or similar) preferably frosted as its for a skylight - 5mm thick, cut to 685mm by 545mm - about 17 or 18 quid online which is fine but then I object to then paying 15 quid to post it!!

I got some nice acrylic sheet from here to make my wind deflectors (Westfield). Very useful place, not too far from C London
ETA Acrylic (Perspex, Oroglas, etc) will resist UV attack best, but UV stabilised polycarbonate is the best for impact resistance. The shop will advise.
