If you can up your budget to £150, a second hand Seiko SCVS003 should be doable. 23 Jewel auto movement, display case back etc. Probably the classiest watch in this price bracket on the right strap.
Stick it on a croc leather strap and bobs your fathers brother.

Edit: or a Christopher Ward - although I know less about them.

Thanks for the replies guys. I like the second Seiko one and the Skagen would be nice if the bracelet was a bit plainer but unfortunately £100 really is the max. I'm not a 'watch person'; I'm just after something that'll look nice, tell the time and not break. I guess that you pay a premium for the automatic movement which is something I'm not interested in. I'll keep looking.
There's a few seiko's in that price range that would be suitable, reliable too!
Something like this maybe? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Mens-SJW041P1-Watch/...
Nice watches, look better in the flesh + also available in black, depends whether you want something plain or not.

If your not worried about it being Quartz then you have a lot of choice.
I was bought a Kenneth Cole by a girlfriend 6yrs or so ago and it was really nicely made and detailed and you can pick these up for a chunk less than £100. They use cheap mass produced bits inside but the quartz one's should stay reliable (new battery every few years etc...).
Some are OTT but others are nice and understated.

The black version of that would be pretty good except for the big date display and the polished sections on the bracelet, although I guess the latter could be changed? You don't happen to know if they make one without a date display do you?Something like this maybe? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Mens-SJW041P1-Watch/...
