Look up the Metro Cup (where I started), Stock Hatch, MR2 or MX5 series. Most are friendly and will have a club secretary or contacts to give you loads of advice. I'd recommend buying a car that's ready sorted for the series you're racing in.

For lessons, someone like Mark Hales or Eugene O Brien.

For the ARDS test, do a search on here. In short, you need a "Go Racing" pack from the MSA and then you'll need to book into an ARDS school for the test itself (Brands, Silverstone etc).

A 'small' budget in racing is still a lot of money. How much were you thinking of spending for the first season including purchasing etc?

Sorry, I was being a bit narrow minded there. If racing is out of your budget then sprinting or hill climbing needn't cost much more than a track day, and you get the competitive element.

For circuit racing, expect costs of around £500 to £800 per race (all in) for the championships that I've mentioned above.

Hi if you want to ciruit race in the uk first you need to do your ARDS test.
This is available @ Mallory Park with Everyman Motor racing, you get Free tuition before you take your test included in the price.Everymanracing .co.uk. Once you have passed your test you can apply for your National B licence with that you can then test at any race track in the uk.Test sessions are so different to track days they give you a real insight into race driving & track craft where you are alloud to overtake going in to corners ect not just on the straight by concent.
