Cd Changer compatibility
Discussion
I think the X308 changer is different to that of an XJ40's, what I would suggest is going to an Alpine dealer and seeing if they sell adaptors.
I would think your probably has a lead, but even if it doesn't it wouild be relatively easy to remove the head unit, fit a link lead to the boot and install an autochanger.

Jaguar use Alpine derived headunits and CD changes if the car as a control cable already fitted(they often do)it will be located behind the grey boot trim/carpet in the right hand upper corner of the boot, the mounting holes are visible if you look at the underside of the parcel shelf (opposite the harmon amp if fitted).
If the cable is there, you need to work out whether it's the M-Bus or the Ai-Net cable, later cars switched to Ai-net at some point. If it's the earlier M-Bus fitting then an Alpine M-bus changer will connect up, something like the CHM-S630 can be found on E-bay (I paid £26 delivered for mine it plugged straight in and works perfectly) the only potential problem when using an Alpine unit rather than the Jaguar branded item can be the electronic 'handshake' between the 2 units, earlier headunits link to Alpine changers no problem but later headunits (from about '97 I believe) 'ask' the changer for confirmation that it is indeed a Jaguar branded item, without this electrinic 'handshake' the Alpine changer won't be recognised, however a cheap interface is available that plugs between the 2 units tells the headunit what it needs to 'hear' and solves the problem.
I can't remember the part no but a quick search on Google for a Jaguar cd interface should find the required part.
