I rang sony the other week as iv got the flashing red light of death they quoted me £145 to get a replacment ps3, which i think is a bit unfair. So i got told about the continous play warrenty, i read all the terms an cons and they are so slack. Theres nothing in there that says you can not take out a policy if your ps3 is ALREADY broken. So i got my ps3 covered by continous play and can claim for a new ps3 any time my ps3 brakes. I am now waiting for my new PS3 to be delivered at the total cost of 5 pounds. So i would sugest trying this way 1st rather than pay sony £145 its worked for me

why?

my xbox has been away a few times now for ROD and NEVER had to pay for it to be fixed

ALL XBOXs are covered for ROD regardless of age

why would you modify one anyway?

IIRC, one year for any problems on the 360, 3 years for the RROD and then you are on your own frown

I've also had a bunch of new free 360s.

Why would you modify it?
For aesthetics? that's not worth ruining the warranty. For playing 'less-than-legal' games? Then you can't play them online! which is where 75+% time of mine is spent!

MS are replacing them so fast they don't even check. You don't think they just fix your 360 do they?

My mate sent his RRoD 360 back at 3pm yesterday and his replacement was here first thing this morning.

I've also known people send them back without reflashing back and without the foil sticker.

Oh, and you can play games online with a flashed 360 9to whoever said you couldn't) smile

You have always been able to play online with copies. It's a cat and mouse game with MS and the pirates though.MS ban a few peeps, they all compare firmwares, newer firmwares become available and round and round we go.You do risk a ban, but it's not a dead cert you will be and they only ban the console, not the gamer tag.
