After some legal advice about contract work...
Discussion
I have been promised some contract work by a local company, I have a letter from the MD stating that they guarantee to give me so many days contract work at a set rate, sometime between Jan and April.
Now I have spoken to someone within the company who reckons there is no cash for any contract work at all and the belts have been tightened so I reckon this work is not going to happen.
Question is, seeing as the letter states the days are guaranteed, if they don't call me in before the deadline to do the work am I in my rights to bill them anyway?
Should I contact them before the deadline stating this or should I keep my head down and just bill them?

Have you performed any of the work yet?
Nope, and by the sound of it, I probably won't get the chance.I was told I would be contacted by a certain person there when they were ready for me, but I've not been asked to go in by him, despite having spoken to him since.

Get them to raise a Purchase Order for the work to be done. As it stands you have, practically, nowt.
Stolen from wiki... A purchase order (PO) is a commercial document issued by a buyer to a seller, indicating the type, quantities and agreed prices for products or services the seller will provide to the buyer. Sending a PO to a supplier constitutes a legal offer to buy products or services. Acceptance of a PO by a seller usually forms a once-off contract between the buyer and seller, so no contract exists until the PO is accepted.
