I heard somewhere (cannot remember where) that there is a 5% discount at BMW for servicing on cars over 4 years old, is this correct? If so, is it on both parts and labour?

It's 15% on parts and labour for cars over four years old.

Just ask for it.

Why do we have to ask for it?

Surely the blinking garage can see how old the car is from the records when they book it in for the service.

Because otherwise you won't get it!

So you simply tell the BMW servicing department that you want the 15% discount?

Picking up my car in the next 90mins, will report back on how the discount conversation goes. I expect much head scratching and possible biro chewing on their part.

Always best to negotiate pricing before you take the car in. If it's Sytner group they will price match local independent garages. Check the website for your dealer for special offers etc.

If you don't ask you won't get.

Would definitely agree, however I only found out about the discount when I got back home after dropping the car off. Plus they probably would not have offered the courtesy wash if I had asked for the discount before smile

Cotswold BMW vary their discount according to the age of the car. I got 30% off labour and 10% off parts after signing up to their BMW Four scheme.

May not be the same at every dealership but make sure you ask for a discount.

Well it seems that the 4+ scheme is only available to "select customers", not those just with 4 year old or more cars. Moody, miserable cow at the service desk didn't want to give me the discount as it should all have been agreed in advance.

Got it in the end though smile

I really wish I did not have to use that dealer for this work but time constraints meant I had the choice of two dealerships within the same franchise and this was closer.

Next time I will do what I normally do and go to North Oxford who charge much better prices, offer far better customer service and actually know what my car is instead of spending 20 minutes trying to tell me it's a 330ci... wkers.
