This has turned up at a non-Vauxhall dealership in south Wales (spotted in the free press). This was advertised in autotrader last July so where’s it been for the last eight months, I wonder?

Mileage is the same and the tax expired in September so it’s been sitting somewhere.

Price is right but the mileage is on the high side.

This one -

Red VXR

Has 67K on it.

Was this the one somebody was trying to point me in the direction of a month or so ago ?? They said it was a VXR with highish miles located in Wales.

Looks to have AP brakes fitted? Hard to tell for sure from the pics.

Ringram will be along to tell you that had he not got a VXR8 (which would be the best option for us all) then the 04VXR are the best model Monaro to own, and the rarest

Looks like a totally original and standard 04 VXR to me, just down the road so I may pop down and take a look. If anyone wants a inspection doing by someone who knows these cars a bit now

Would you mind ?? I am very interested in getting a Ro (still) and don't mind something with some extra miles on it if it saves me few bob wink

Just spoken to the guy and sounds like a clean example (but they would say that !) so am interested to know what its really like. It is hefty mileage (compared to most) that would soon be over 80K in a couple of years but if it was in really good condition then i'd be interested. (if it has got AP's on it keep quiet wink )

From the pics they look like the Red HSV calipes, not AP's. I'll have a look for you (probably tomorrow) and give you a quick report after. I wouldn't worry about the mileage. The LS1 as standard is supposed to be good for around 250k miles.

Its my old car! AP's from OZ before uk stocked them, dodgy cat back exhaust, remap, ripshift, yella terra roller rockers, CAI. dyno'd at 443bhp after all mods. PM me for any more info.

PS

Its been at Greens for many months, then was sold via GMAC through auction.

Do you still want me to go down and take a look for you? Or is there now no need?

If you could please it would be very handy - it'll help me decide whether to make the 200 mile trip or not !!

Took a look at it this morning. Looks in pretty good order. Minor stone chip on front, some scratching to N/S wing mirror. Front discs look to need attention. Other than that all good as far as I can see. I didn't drive it, but I did start it. No nasty noises. HSV brakes, cat-back system (Wortec?), and no engine cover(s).
Gear stick movement seemed a little sloppy, like a very well worn ripshifter? Not much travel, but very easy to move, while mine is still very tight.
I spoke to the guys there, they weren't entireley sure about any details about the car, but the price is pretty good I reckon. You may be able to drop them a little for cash too. Obviously they've had a number of enquiries (mostly wanting to drive it rather than buy it!), when I turned up in mine and wandered over to it I was thrown the keys! I guess they knew I knew what I was looking at.
Let me know how you get on. If I didn't already have one I'd be tempted

Thanks for your help thumbup Whats up with the disks ? Do they look badly rusted ?

Yes, pitted and lots of surface rust. Not AP's though so I don't know if it's due to the same high Iron content. Or if the HSV branded brakes ARE in fact a different version of the AP's. Clearly not used for some time.
No evidence of damp in the cabin.
No evidence of peeling paint on door handles.
