Ditched the runflats, need a space saver
Discussion
I have recently changed the runflats on my E61 M-Sport for a set of Kuhmo Ecsta KU31's. Reiterating was has been said on here many times, ride quality and road noise are transformed - It feels like a different car. But that wasn't why I posted. I now need a space saver and am getting ready to watch E-Bay etc, but what do I need? I don't think there is an 18" space saver, so would I use the 17"? If so, are there different ones, or are all the BMW 17" ones the same?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I've just got rid of the RF's on my Z4C and was advised to inform my insurance company. They just put a note on my details. I know that there is some dispute on whether or not they should be informed. However, in the event of needing to make a claim, I don't want them to have any opportunity to try and wriggle out of it. All it cost was a phone call.
As for the space saver, I couldn't afford to lose any boot space, so I just purchased a couple of cans of tyre weld and a small compressor. It's pretty much all that came with the Z4CM that I had whilst mine was being repaired. Also took out basic breakdown cover as I can imagine BMW assist telling me to take a hike (quite literally) should I need to call them over anything tyre related.

A 17" space saver should fit yours. I've bought one for using on my non-RFT'ed Z4 (on 18"s) after fitting normal tyres and it fits fine. I think it came from a 330i but couldn't be sure, but keep an eye on ebay - I got one 2nd hand but unused for £45, but took a long time of looking...
I don't carry it all the time (which kinda defeats the purpose I know...) due to boot space requirements, but I do on any trips away from my local area.
And yes, my insurance company wanted to know (I asked them when I phoned up and was told they DO want to know about that - esure) but didn't charge me any extra, just put a note on my record.

Tyre change? no i don't think so, thats a servicable part, you dont declare to your insurance if you put in a K&N panel filter or Denso Iridium spark plugs now do you?
Switching from runflats to non-runflats is a modification in the eyes of many insurance companies. If you don't believe me check... or wait until you have an accident and the insurance company use it to wriggle out of paying.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
