I have a problem with the Hi-Tec 60A charger on a Broom. The charger unit doesn't want to charge the batteries. I wondered if there were any common failures?

Thanks

Check to see if it has an internal fuse.

I should say I've done the obvious things... The 2 30A blade fuses and the 2 glass slow blow fuses check out OK. There's an odd electronics problem lurking in there somewhere.

Hi are you sure the batts are not past it? warped plates? low deion? you should be looking at 14.6 volts ish (assuming 12V system) if the charger is outputting.

They charge on the alternator, so I guess they're OK. It's just inconvenient running the engines when sat next to a perfectly good electricity supply! wink

On further investigation, it looks like the bridge rectifier in the charger has died.
