Hi

Finally bought my first MP3 player - iPOD Nano 8GB Purple and have managed to get it working. Lovely thing but not particularly impressed by the earphones. I gather you can get much better; anyone know what are the best compact headphones?

Sennheiser CX300s seem to be the MX5 of the headphone world here.

Make sure the ear pads are set up though, or you might be dissapointed with them

I use Shure SE110's excellent plugs, about £40 from Amazon.

I use Audio Technica ear plugs, comes in two sizes to fit your ears perfect. Although a bit pricey they are worth ever penny as they come with surround noise cancelling as well. They also come with a universal adapter plug for seats in aircraft so you can use them there instead of the crappy head sets they give you if you want to listen to their inflight movies etc.

I use Senheisser MX500, work really well, can't remember how much but not stupidly priced.
