They'd get more interest if they divulged more details.

I don't think they want the rest of the racers to know what they was using wink

does prove you can get 270 BHP from a pre-serp 3.9 engine. also looks like it's got standard trumpets.

7 HT leads too. Car would have had a spare engine or two in the boot for the weigh in too!

Just remove any confusion, I'm not saying he did anything that was not allowed in the rules. plus he ran a data logger to prove the car was within the regulations. plus I've always got on well with him. Just Teams and races like to keep some tricks secret.

the standard trump bit, was to point out you can get 270 BHP without having a £2000 induction system.

and unless the price goes up a lot someone is going to get a bargain. as the engine has been flawless all season.

I'm assuming you'd need an Emerald ECU system or similar to be able to extract anywhere near that power?

I sure he was using a standard ECU, maybe a hotwire not a Flapper. the engine is using a dissy, so don't think he was running a emerald.

Thats pretty impressive, i didn't think the stock fuelling/ignition systems were up to that much.

Interesting.. I cannot see royal mail moving it for £70 though.

most sites will say 270 BHP is the limit on a 4.0 on the standard system.
Also a lot of standard 20 year old 400SE's will get 240 BHP. so 30 more with a race cam and full balance is not out of the question.

also I've had engines delivered on a pallet for £70.

Not sure about Emerald, but my engine still runs a distrbutor, with MoTeC controlling both fuel and sparks, so it is possible. For me it was easier and cheaper to do that, rather than get into trigger wheels, coil packs etc.

True but if her went to the expense to get a Emerald, and he was using it for racing, it would not cost much more to go trigger wheel, and you get a lot more control for another £200. which is peanuts, as they spent 5k on the engine.

Anyone know who bought it in the end.

Be good if it does go back in a racer as it's now only me and Iain running 4.0's, but due to the reg changed it's pointless running a 4.0 when everyone else is running 5.0 + or forced induction.
