Changes?

A lazy post really, but I won't see a blue book for a few weeks and I dont want to get caught out with any sneaky changes for 2009.

Last year my car went through scrutineering fine, no issues. Are there any new items that I should be aware of that may require attention.

I have only a single mounting point on the cage for my both harness shoulder straps - could this be an issue for scrutineers?

We were pulled up on the harness mount last year - sorted it at the circuit - but would have been easier back at the workshop.
The only other item - which wont affect your car of course - are the new Blue Book regulations for exhaust systems with catalytic converters if you have a production based car of any kind. See page 150 section 22. Which applies to cars manufactured 31/12/99.

Yep I've got to do my harness mounts on the tuscan to race it this year, I think the 1986 suit standard is now expired as well ( or this may be next year) so I need to check that...

The Cat thing is a bit stupid IMHO as most of them will be fecked after about 10 mins running... pure pr nothing to do with being green...

Yes it definately will. I copped it at Cadwell last year. let us thru but had to be sorted for next round.

My Harness shoulder straps are secured to the roll cage by wrapping round the bar, then through a buckle that is then threaded back on itself. It's the same type buckle as holds the clips on the other four points of the harness. Is this OK?

yes, coz theres two points, one for each.

also, 5 point harness is no good. 4 or 6 only

Need to do the Harness mounts on mine also.

Also I know they did not make wedge chassis's after 1992 ish, but how would I know the age of my chassis.
This could be a problem esp as I have a P38 block which could be after 1999 not 100% sure.

This will be an issue John and a one that annoys me. I need to change my car as well. The MSA are insisting on 2 seperate mounting points for harness shoulder straps. The stupidity is that they seem to think that 2 eye bolts in shear are stronger than 1 eyebolt in parallel tension??

Also 1000kg min weight now in class C. So ballast mounting area will need to be approved.

The only weight stipulation I can see is a min weight of 850kgs for class A cars only. Nothing in the regs that I could see...

the harness issue is a pain though and obviously made by someone in the MSA that aren't from an engineering background.
