Well, the full impact of the rises from last year and a month of chilly weather have finally hit - Nov to Feb = £244! That's for a 3 bed det that had its cavities filled(oo err) in the autumn and never has the 'stat above 20degC. I actually used about 25% less units than the same time last year but the bill is £50 higher.

I am expecting mine for that period to be around £750.

No kidding.

It's shocking - but I don't like my family to be cold.

Mate of mine told me at the weekend that their electric bill (bearing in mind their heating and cooking is gas) is £10K a year.

Its a nice house with outbuildings but still, £2500 a quarter.

MrsTee is blaming you lot for recommending i leave the stat on 21 all the time rather than using a timer. !!!

My combined gas/elec for the quarter today was £700 - when is the price of energy coming down since the price of oil tumbled (this WAS the reason they used when putting it up).

Also got my council tax bill - £250 per month - and no, I don't live in a mansion, and this is with them boasting that they haven't increased it for this year!

I genuinely don't know how pensioners can afford to live.....

My Gas and Electric (combined) bill was £45 a month has now been reduced to £29.95 a month. I had over £100 in credit with them though...

I live on my own in a pretty small two bed flat.

21 is too high, turn it down to 20 and soon you won't notice the difference. I went away last weekend turned it down to 18 on permanent and I didn't notice until a few days after I came back. Put an extra layer of clothing on helps too.

My heating and electric has gone down a lot and I'm only paying £10 a month more than a year ago by being more conscious of how much I have been using. Getting rid of the thermostatic controlling woman has made a big difference
