Swansea / Mumbles Stag Do Opinions?
Discussion
Right then. For a mates stag do we wanted to go surfing.
Newquay was knocked on the head as they don’t want to fly down, and it’s a bally long way in the car on a Bank Holiday Weekend.
So surfing on the Gower Peninsular was put forward. Surf School is sorted.
However,
Mumbles used to be a great location for an alldayer years ago when one of our merry band was doing an MA down there, but any recent reports or local knowledge? Is it now a hell hole?
Also what’s the centre of Swansea like. Back in the day it was like throwing out time at the OK corral.
All constructive input welcome.

Received an e-mail yesterday with details of a mates stag do in July. This is to based in the same area with activities including bushcraft (sounds like good stag do stuff!), gorge scrambling, canyoning, zip lines and others. It's done through an activity centre, but I don't have the details with me - I could though post them later.
I gather a bit of Mumbles Mile action will follow the daytime activities.

Dunno. But twenty years ago when on a school trip to Mumbles we fought a pitched battle with the locals up and down the beach. Then they broke into our coach and stole our "Public Enemy" tapes...Also what’s the centre of Swansea like. Back in the day it was like throwing out time at the OK corral.

Don't go to Swansea for a night out as a group of lads... you will be attacked, glassed etc etc !!

Ahh... Swansea. "You've got to go to facking Quids budt..."
There are some okay places - The Uplands Tavern, a couple of the nicer bars in Wind Street and Face Off (if you like studenty rock clubs) all stand out - but there are some more-than-slightly rough places too.
Great roads on The Gower though and nice surfing.
I think Newquay would be better for a stag do though.

My O/H has a surf shop on the Gower, so if you need any help/advice let me know. What school are you going with? (PM me if you don't want to divulge). You know where are you staying yet? Hotel or camping?
WRT pubs, Wind Street in Swansea is the main area. And as others have said, it's a nice place to go...
For the Mumbles mile as used to be, there are a couple of places that have closed, and some are a bit reticent about all-male stag groups, (Salt@the George for example), but other than that, start at the Antelope/Nags and work your way back to the White Rose and catch a bus/taxi into town. "A beer in the evening" has a list of the ones on the traditional 'mile'.
Also, keep some change for mad Margaret - she does a grand job collecting for the RNLI, and goes around the pubs in a big sombrero. You can't miss her, and she doesn't let you go without contributing!!
