Which BMW Warranty?
Discussion
Just had my annual renewal form from BMW only this year is different.
I've got a choice of 3 options. Anyone have any experience of them.
Is the comprehensive worth the extra money? Is driveline not worth the paper it is written on?
I'm either looking at Comprehensive with £100 excess at £757 or Named component with zero excess at £720.
The car is an (2003) E46 M3 with SMGII on 54k.

Your car age and mileage are almost identical to mine. I chose the full no excess warranty last year and the following are some of the claims I've made since then:
Drivers side door lining apperture thingy (the suede/rubber sealing that runs all round the door frame in the cabin) - 120 otherwise
Bubbling/cracked paint around wing mirrors (They supposedly replaced the entire units on both side to fix this, I have no idea why) - 700
Going in to have the differential looked at, they will almost definitely replace the oil or the unit itself due to the horrendous grinding sounds it's making - could be a couple of hundred or 1k+
The first year I owned the car, I had absoloutely nothing go wrong with it whatsoever, so this is just a small example of how it can add up over the course of a years motoring.
The problem is that with the money I didn't have to spend, I was able justify giving it to KDS Keltec for a full machine correction and detail, so not quite sure what I've saved now..

Was this after booking it in with someone else then cancelling at 1.00am of the morning of the allocated booking and wasting their time?Edited by Deniz.S on Thursday 5th March 15:50

Does happen to me too and most fustraiting ,as for small companys detailing this could be half a weeks work gone with no warning !!!
But i would never email customer direct or no way would i post on a forum of such things directed at the customer if it happened to me which it has , as imho would think it does not do the company any favors !!!
Again sorry if it happened to you and the car is at my workshop

Deniz car did need 3 different areas of work and a wheel refurb that is not under detailing sector thou !!
so i am guessing this is why things changed !!!

I had in fact arranged to have the wheels and bodywork done (at short notice), the leather is something I do myself.
Its the poor excuses for cancelling at such short notice that bothers me i.e. last minute business trip!

HI bryan
Deniz did go on a business trip as i can only get hold of him through his I phone !!
When he left the car with me he was in a rush and must of only spent 2 minutes with me and had someone ready to take him the airport !!!
I wish i got notice if customers cancell , how many times did i stand around in the workshop on a sunday all day which had been arranged only for a no show !!
Anyway customers should not be spoken about on forums between companys
Forums are for customers to talk about companys
Keep on buffing bryan

Warranty...
I've got a similar dilemma to make in the next few weeks...
The prices I've been quoted for my Z4M are:
Comprehensive - £835
Named Component - £706
Drive Line - £557
Normally I wouldn't bother with a Warranty, but I've only had the car for 4 weeks and have just been financially saved with a new gearbox with only weeks to go until the 3 year policy expires (would have cost me £2.5K + Tax + Labour)...
I'm really interested to know what other people have taken?!
I've got little information... Other than phoning up, how do I find out the differences in the policies?

I've got a year till the warranties up on my Z4M, but i'd be interested in knowing the prices (discounts) and any options?
My deadline was tomorrow so I've just extended my warranty.
There weren't any discounts available but I did save approx £100 by removing the 'roadside assistance' option.
I went for the driveline option (eg. just the engine, transmission and drive-train elements)...
It's designed to cover claims upto the value that was paid for the car. I just paid £396.
For that I'm assured (I asked several times to check) that I've got any BIG bills covered...
Incidentally, the lady accidentally started giving me the prices for a non-M Z4 warranty.
It was pennies in comparrison
, I tried to work my charms but to no avail....

Tesco now specifically exclude BMW M cars from their warranties...
They shouldn't provide a quote then.
I've just done one and read their T&Cs, policy document, and all the other documents available on their site, and nowhere could I see that it says that ///Ms are excluded. If it is excluded then why do they let me select a 3246cc Z4 in their drop-down menu?
It's also strange that they claim in big writing that the top-of-the-range warranty includes wear & tear and consumables, and then goes into detail in the exclusions to say it doesn't include friction materals, but then includes brake disks??? And the clutch is included if you can prove to their satisfaction that it wasn't you're sporty driving that caused it to fail.
