Which Music Festival is best???
Discussion
I did V for the first time last year and loved it, so much that I bought tickets for 09 that week (special offer).
And then I saw the band list released on Monday - it's superb, and I can't wait
Never done glastonbury but I hear good things too.
Your location might make more of a difference for ease of getting there - glastonbury is a chuffing long way from some people.

UK festivals have lost the plot of late, Europe is much better and cheaper. There are also less idiots than at ours.
I was at V last year and I would not go again. It was ok but i just felt it could kick off any minute.
I have a festival in my garden every year, just me, the dog and my blind neighbour. Room for one more!

glastonbury obviously. it really is that good. its more to do with the set-up as other festivals have the camping and arena seperately. at glasto, once you're in, you're in, so you can take your own beers and not have your bag searched every 2 mins. plus security are very liberal with what you can take in as long as you're not a cock about it.
i've heard good things about bestival and camp bestival but not been as yet. benicassim also gets good reviews.
i would say go to carling [leeds] over V fest. at V they don't [or didn't] allow campfires, won't let you take your own alcohol into the arena, and the security are all ex-auschwitz.

I've been to glastonbury and V a few times, I prefer V because
a) it's cheaper
b) it's closer
c) it's more chilled (less hardcore)
d) the bands are normally just as good
The thing about festivals is you often can;t see all the bands you want to because they play on different stages, and you need to get to a stage about 20 mins beforehand to get near the front
top tip for smuggling in alchy: buy a 5L box of wine (with tap), remove bladder, add to backpack with waterproofs etc :-)
ETA: Yes security is strict, but I prefer it that way (maybe I'm getting old) but you don't get riots and you do get sleep, if you want :-)

Glastonbury - It's the best festival by miles. Even if the bands aren't to your liking there is SO much there that you'll never see it all.
The people are much more friendly than at Leeds/ Reading / V etc, and the atmosphere is fantastic.

However, if you want a small festival then 2 very good ones are 'Endorsit-in-Dorset' (5000 people) and 'Beautiful Days' (10,000 people).
