EVO Challenge- set up a US TVR dealership?
Discussion
Interesting article by Gareth Wardell in December EVO (p 67). Seems to make a good case for a US TVR dealership, and ends the article "Wealthy entrepeneur, please step forward. We need a dealership."
While I'm sure there will be hurdles (aka barriers to entry), my guess would be that the entrepeneurs to do it are on this board?

Nice idea, but I don't think we have the people here to change the US emmissions and crash test regulations?
Would we need to change the engine then, a la Lotus, and crash a few cars? There are already TVRs in the US (from the article) so there must be a loophole somewhere.
Most of the TVR's in america are the classics which were officially imported in the good old days. Nowadays they are personal imports AFAIK and Faisal seems to be the man to talk to about it (he has imported: 1 Elise/ 1 Exige/ 2 Cerberas).
I think TVRs would need airbags and such to be allowed to sell over there - so unfortunately it looks like this is a project for those who are seriously loaded only.
Shame really, I could do with a bit of cash and a TVR dealership...

TVRs were imported to the USA from 1957 until 1987. The Canadian importer sold a few more until 1994.
The whole subject on TVR getting back into the US has been done to death ever since 'Swordfish' came out and has been discussed at length here
Anyhow, modern TVRs are far to fast for Americans; let them stick to Ferraris and Porsches
