What are these like? I really want a HTC Touch HD but Orange will not do one as an upgrade, not even if I keep my contract and don't take a cheaper one. What they have done though is offer to half my contract, give me more minutes and unlimited texts, this would mean my bill would be £15 per month. They have also offered a free Blackberry Curve 8900. Is it decent enough to have an occasional browse when I'm bored in a hotspot? Is the music player good enough to listen to?

I can get the Touch HD on T-Mobile but that would be £35 a months for the same as Orange are offering for £15. I don't use the internet on the move often as at the moment I'm working from home. Would the Curve be good enough?

Ive got a 8900 Curve. I had 3 BB Storms prior and each one broke within hours/days. Curve is alot better and no problems yet....touch wood. Feels a bit flimsy is my only gripe compared with my old trusty Nokia.

Comes into its own with email and typing SMS....dont know how I did without one!

Cheers, I need to decide soon as my K850i has died and my old Nokia microwaves my ear quite noticeably.

Get a Bold - much better than a Curve IMHO.

yes

My Bold beats the snot out of anything HTC have on the market - and I hated Blackberry before work issued me a Bold

Another BB Storm user, who got fed up with it falling apart and battery life, I ended up with a Bold and its been great, 3G as well! Consider a bold!

We use the 8900 at work. Great phone.

Personally I run a Nokia E71 which is a corking phone. I would argue that its better than the both, better looking, feels higher quality, battery last longer and has the same features and then some as the 8900.

Not really.

I own both of them.

They both have pluses. The bold is a bigger device but has the best keyboard out there, the bold also has a faster processor however the device is no faster than the curve as the curve has double the ram of the bold.

The curve is a smaller form factor and looks a lot better, plus the curve has a great camera vs the rubbish one of the bold. The curve also has a higher res screen, however the bold's screen still looks superb.

So if you want a smaller device that has a good camera the curve is the choice, if you want a bigger keyboard and 3G (although this is no quicker than the curve on edge and is often slower through hunting for 3g).

I personally prefer the Curve because it's small enough to sit in my pocket, does everything I want well and has a good camera.

Tried the bold and the 8900 which is much better in everyday use would highly recommend especially for business use. Once i had used one a few years ago couldn't do without a blackberry now, the 8900 is supurb.

They had no 8900 so I've ordered a Nokia 5800 as they said the Curve could be a while. I thought I might as well try the Nokia as I have a 7 day no quibble exchange so if it's poo I can get the Blackberry. Free handset, £15 a month for 700 minutes and Unlimited texts. £19 with 'unlimited' data. I also have the choice of the HD for £72 if I like neither.

Best phone I have ever had- hands down.
If you get it, head to crackberry.com and update the OS from the one it ships with. Double the battery life with some of the recent OS compared to the older ones biggrin (recommend OS .133 at the moment, .144, .152 are not good, and .168 is worse on battery life than .133 although better in every other respect)

Also recommend you get the applications:
Buzzme (£free)- which makes it vibrate and ring at the same time (instead of alternately)
&
BBalerts ($8) which lets you customise the alerts and colors of the LED- so you can create your own color for sms, another for emails, another for voicemail etc etc.. essential IMHO- unless you are happy with everything being red LED only.

Apart from the rubbish camera, the really tacky faux leather back and the fact its really rather awkwardly big... plus has less RAM than the 8900.

Good stuff, after looking at the reviews I couldn't justify the extra £20 a month or even paying for the HTC. Browsing looks good on YouTube reviews, how do you find it?
