Probably another "Eric one" :-)

Any idea what's happening with the Dakota outside Browning Barracks in Aldershot?
I assume it's being prepared to be moved as the engines are off and on the ground in front of the wings, the rudder is off and so is the horizontal tailplane.

I'll see if I can find out over the weekend a move date if there's going to be one.

OK ta for that - I thought that was where the Airborne Forces museum moved to, but poking around a bit more seems it moved to Duxford.

Any idea when it moves???

yikes

Is it not there any more? I did my training at Browning Barracks with 2 Para... remember walking into those gates for the very first time in my life, never having been away from home before with Teddy One Ear on top of my case; really excited and chattering away to the cab driver about my perception of training and life ahead at Browning Barracks..............................

.... and him saying "God love ya' girl" hehe

Shall never forget those words hehe

I know that one's been answered, but East Fortune's Museum of Flight has had several funding grants lately, so there's a lot of work going on up here for that museum. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few birds shipped this way in the next couple of years.

Despite living in Aldershot most of my life, I never went to the museum at Browning - played football there a few times on Sundays though - it always meant getting there 45 minutes earlier than normal to have the cars searched!!

The museum contents have been moved to Duxford. The Dak has obviously gone elsewhere as I doubt if Duxford wanted another aircraft.

When I drove past this evening there was a truck with a hoist connected to strapping around the port wing - no-one around so probably knocked off for the night and left it like that.

So looks like wings off tomorrow - that reminds me, I still didn't contact the museum to see when it is actually moving.......will try to remember tomorrow.
