iPlayer link for R2 tonight from 8pm....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00hw4y6

Had a quick scan through and can't hear anything that sounds like it though..

Edited to add - found it.

At the end of Bob Harris Country this evening.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00hw4y4

Would hazard a guess that it is Sugarland performing it.

Yup it was Sugerland as Pesty said. As I listened to it I thought how much of a different song it was from a American perspective.
They could sing this in New Jersey or similer and it have a upbeat feeling to it.

Yet I think of the original by Dream Academy to be a gloomy view of life during hard times.

(The views above are those of myself and in no way am I a reviewer or social commentator biggrin)

P.S quite good stand in whilst the Whisperer is away.

The dream acadamy version was one of my favourite songs as a young un.

I heard the sugarland version not long ago and liked it but it sounded suspiciously 'country and western' when one of the blokes starts. Just didnt fit

Strictly speaking, I think it is Sugerland and Little Big Town featuring some guy called Jake Owen. I'm no country fan but LBT are pretty good - saw them live in Tampa last year, very Fleetwood Mac influenced. We went as a treat for the wife on our honeymoon ... and I really enjoyed the show! ( http://www.littlebigtown.com/).

Life in a Northern Town is also a bonus track on LBT's current album "A Place to Land".

I would guess it was on R2 as Sugarland are performing in the UK next week ....

Sorry CC does that mean you think it's good or bad?

One of the most under rated songs of the 80's IMO.
