Sounds dodgy to me, ask him for a landline number that you can call and speak to him on, and watch the excuses roll in.

I don't know who falls for these scams. The scammers need to take it more seriously in learning English and cultural use of language (God bless?) if they are to come across as anything but a stereotypical "please transfer your monies" scammer. But I'm glad they don't.

I had the same sort of thing with a 'Rev Brain (yes Brain not Brian) Moore. And yes, he had a very deep African voice. I didn't have what he wanted, but he just wanted to buy anything with a credit card. 'I want about 10 pieces of.....'

He then tried to give me his 'sisters' credit card details. I phoned up the Credit card company to inform them, and they said go ahead with it as it all matched!!! I didn't and searched the residential directory and found the original credit card holder who was naturally horrified.

I assume he would then change his mind, accept a restock charge and try and have the money sent back to him by cheque or put into a different account. Which naturally we wouldn't do.

Scam.

Insist on cash upfront and make sure it clears if you're honestly still considering.

+1, most likely he'll be paying on stolen credit cards.

The goods will be shipped and long gone before the bank calls to tell you that they are reversing the payments.

Seen this exact tactic sink a firm before, the "tab" was up for £50,000 before the bank called to say the card was pinched.

It does beg the question why an African Fraudster would want steel ballards sending to Pembrokshire though...

I know, wierd isnt it, it was IT equipment that I saw it happen with before, high value, easy to sell on, pretty much untracable.

I cant see the scrap value being particularly high.

He's getting them picked up by his own freight company to save carriage charges and obviously they will go knowhere near the address he has given me. I haven't told him our prices include delivery yet. Bless him!

The bollards he is after are cast aluminium and have very very little scrap value.

Tell him you have some mates in Newchapel (just down the road) and you could swing by personally to meet him.

Have a play with him and see where you get to! smile
