Where to buy used skis

As per the title!
Going to Flaine in two weeks time and the rental prices are frankly offensive. I fancy picking up some cheap used skis but can't find any on ebay or any shops that seem to stock used kit.
Does any body have know of such a shop?, I can only find one in the states that doesn't ship to the UK.

There isn't much of a market for used skis to be honest. You can get hold of ex-rentals from the ski shops especially approaching the end of the season but they generally come with the rental bindings which are generally not worth having.
Other than Ebay they sometimes turn up on www.natives.co.uk though you don't know the 'service history' of second hand skis. Repairs ammount of edging and base grind and structuring so you may end up with an unservicable pair of skis (no base left to grind and not enough metal left to edge!)
I personally wouldn't want to ski in bindings that I haven't owned from new so you are looking at buying new bindings anyway so you may as well buy a set of new skis as well.
What sort of level skiier are you, what sort of budget do you have and what type of skiing do you want to do? (groomed piste, off piste, all mountain etc...) do you know what length you usually ski or alternatively what is your rough hight? If i get the chance I will check for any good deals for you.
you have to take into account getting them to and from resort though in the hire cost. I.E. a ski bag and any exess costs to carry

Ski Bartlett are good for cheap skis, I think they don't have used ones but they do have some cheap sets from 2/3 seasons ago. So in many cases the same ski as this seasons but with different graphics.

I got some through a guy I found on ebay( http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Swiss-Tims-Emporium-...
Has his own site: swisstimsskis.com
I ended up calling him and discussed what I wanted. Was very happy with service and will keep them another season or three unitl I improve enough to warrant getting a different pair.

as for your question, if you know what you want then ebay can be a good source for cheap stuff..
If you want some cheap rentals let me know, we're in Les Carroz and the shop we use weekly rental for skis and boots starts at €73 for 6 days..............as someone's said.. Natives and snowheads might help but beware.... Natives is for seasonaires (ie those who live and work in resort for a season) to their skis are more than likely ragged............ snowheads is for skiers/boarders and again skis might have been well used.

I'll get the exact details tonight and pm you! Its a friends apartment and the first time I've been to Flaine so some local knowledge would be great!
I think the rest of our party have booked their kit from Inter Sport. Any good?

personally I think all ski hire shops are the same.... more or less!
they will all be € competitive, some might have better stock than others..... we've always used independants as they tend to give more care........ I would only really recommend buying skis if you ski a lot otherwise rent.... buy your boots by all means but not sure about skis!!

I've considered buying my own kit as well, but when compared the cost of getting there, the ski pass, food and drink, the savings start to pale in to insignificance unless you plan to go freqently.
I can recommend Samoens for hire as well though, plenty of choice and the ski bus will run you there. Think I paid about £10 a day.
To be honest, get your self up the top lift from Flaine and when you’re looking out over Mont Blanc, paying an extra a bit extra seems not to matter. Oh, I'd definitely recommend running down Les Cascades as well (from the top lift), 16km long but stunning. Well worth the bus journey back.

I've got some excellent carbon fibre race carvers I'd quite like to sell. They're a damn good ski, and I've had five trips out of them but I'm going freeride next time.
