Re-Spray Costs
Discussion
Finally started working on my s last night. First job is plumbing in the brakes. The car came with a nice new master cylinder which was nice!
When shes back on the road mechanically she will be pretty good with a perfect chassis and most components replaced or refurbed. The body work is ok but treating her to a respray would IMHO turn it into one of the best S1's on the road.
How much have people been charged for a good respray, any reduction for prepping the car but taking bit off and flatting back the paint work?
I'm away off this yet but it will take me best part of a year to save up.
As I got a good deal on the car it coudl well pay for itself if I sold it so worth the investment.

Hi Mike
quote from Option 1 near Bromsgrove was £3.5k with them doing all the work but that included removing doors, boot, bonnet and was a fixed price (even if they found a horror story) I've seen their work and its fantastic - they specialise in TVR/Lotus ie fibre glass
Does that help?

I had mine done for about 2 thirds of that but it was at mates rates so not really relevant
My advice would be to get a quote with doors, mirrors, lights, bumpers etc all removed from the car cos taking them off and putting it all back again must take a considerable time to do, especially lining up the bonnet correctly which can be a pain.....

I have just had my S2 resprayed at Customs and Classics Guilden Morden Herts 01763 853945 with excellent results I bought all the paint and materials myself and that alone came to £600 if you are confident in your preparation ability then you could save quite a bit especially if you refit the car yourself after it is done.
